Having completed the Darlinghurst head office fitout previously, Bresic Whitney engaged SPM to complete the fitout works of their new Hunters Hill Office. Working with the same architects, Chenchowlittle, the client wanted another unique space to function as an office, while providing client meeting spaces.
Using architectural steel and American Oak as the core materials of the project, the concept of a house within an office was developed. Independent meeting rooms have been created to provide privacy as well as a unique design. Each meeting space or ‘pod’ has been constructed out of a steel frame clad with oak and accented with brass and glazing.
Both the floor and walls have been clad in American Oak with extreme precision. The timber cladding to the wall terminates in an angled pelmet. Accented with strip lighting, this highlights exposed ceilings and ‘roofs’ of the pods.
Along with the pods, steel was used to create ‘floating’ workstations. This allows the space to be cleared and utilised as a function space. Client functions and presentations can be hosted without the feel of being in a meeting room, but in a unique venue with personality.
The unique design and bespoke construction have resulted in the receipt of an Interior Design Excellence Award (2015) for a workspace under 1000sqm. The client is delighted with the result and the quality of workmanship in this award winning project.
